Benefits of Forests – A Lifeline for Our Planet

We all live in a world where we understand the importance of trees and forests. Technically, we all rely on forests and the benefits they offer. Forests have trees that generate a lot of healthy oxygen we breathe daily. These trees and forest areas are essential for maintaining a healthy environment.

Forests provide a living environment where we can move with better survival. However, the biggest fact is that forests have been under threat for the past few years. At the International Day of Forests this year, a report was conducted to highlight the importance of forests and what we should do to protect them. Let’s check out how he responds to this question.

Why Are Forests Essential for Our Healthy Life on Earth?

It might not be easy to imagine life on Earth without trees and forests. However, forests sustain our environment and live in so many ways. The air we breathe, the food we eat, the area in which we live, or the environment in which we struggle daily significantly impact our lives. The wood and paper pickets we use daily also significantly impact forest growth.

Forests are not just a local resource, but a global necessity. The world’s population relies on forests, understanding their immense value. They provide us with a secure and healthy ecosystem that influences our rainfall patterns, our living climate, and our watersheds. They also offer a vital habitat for around 80% of land-based biodiversity.

As per the environmental facts and some estimates conducted by research, the economic value of our ecosystem and forest services provided by the World Health Organization is around 16.2 trillion dollars annually.

These factors and discussions are based on expert knowledge and research. That is why everyone should be aware of forests’ importance and value in our society.

What is the Overall State Value of Forests in the World?

Over the past 25 years, the good news that many people have experienced is that global deforestation has declined by more than 50%. That is an annual rating that focuses on the healthy growth of forests in our areas. The decline happens due to some stakeholders and governments working hard to grow forests. They invest their huge amount of money and annual revenue in the restoration of existing forests and then the creation of new lands for forest growth.

Despite the expert’s efforts and investment plans, forests are still in danger. Every year, more than 7-8 million hectares of natural forests are lost because people are changing the land into farms or using it for business. This harms the forests and makes it difficult for animals and plants to survive. Forests are also affected by land getting worse, forests getting split apart, bugs and illnesses that don’t belong there, and lots of forest fires. These problems are made worse by the changes in the weather caused by climate change. That is why the experts make every possible step to protect them. Let’s check out what actions are going to be performed to protect the forest growth.

What Actions Should Be Performed to Protect Forests in Our Society?

The UN has a plan called the UN Strategic Plan for protecting Forests in this era. This plan has six big goals and 26 smaller targets to help make sure forests are taken care of by the year 2030. The goal is to manage all kinds of forests and trees in a way that makes sure they can last a long time. To do this, we need to take good care of the forests we have and stop cutting down trees without planting new ones. It means making sure that the forests are managed in a way that keeps them healthy and strong. If we work together and take care of the forests, we can make sure they stick around for a long time and keep our earth healthy.

At the UN department, the experts work hard to bring together the stakeholders, investors, and government players to take necessary actions together in one group. They coordinate with each other to perform necessary actions to protect the forest in our environment and land. However, people from around the world can help and take the first step forward to make the right decision for growing plants and trees in our environment.

In this way, people can make the right choice in bringing a healthy environment to their lives. It includes purchasing products that are sourced from sustainable and managed forests. They can also invest in buying local lands where they grow plans and supporting the other greenery communities and spaces.

International Forest Day

On the International Day of the Forest, the observation call on 21st March included many experts and stakeholders. This year, the theme of this conference is to focus on promoting awareness of forest growth in every region. The interconnection between biodiversity and forests is vast, so everyone needs to focus on the fact that forests are growing in our lands. Investing in forests is vital to facilitate our health and well-being and provide a healthy environment for the next generation. Rather than distracting from the recent 2019 landmark report and ecosystem service provider report, we should work on expanding our environment ecosystem by producing more forests.
